In 2019, a queer voice actor from Pittsburgh, Sam Logsdon, had an idea. With so many authors and artists living in one area, there should be more opportunities for collaboration. They decided to gather their friends and acquaintances and asked how to turn raw talent into something bigger. Realizing that promoting local artists was merely a starting point, the idea for Phoenix of Alexandria was developed! It's going to be more than just another publishing company: PoA is a queer-led, queer-focused business that plans to amplify voices in the community. Along with a team of editors (Dani Mauroni, John Barham, and Rachel Lange), and dedicated contributors, Phoenix of Alexandria has been able to create their first publication: Rivets! This is a Pittsburgh-born literary collection (with a few non-local contributions) that highlights the talent of queer authors and visual artists.
